Thank you, Adam, for making my day by alerting me to this headline-

Zipcar not so zippy

I'm into my second week of the long commute to the new job. I seem to end up behind a Zipcar almost each evening, usually somewhere on VFW Pkwy. The repeated sightings lead me to these questions- Is it a different Zipcar and driver every time? Or one person who has rented one for an extended period of time? Why must they drive so slowly?

Naked chickens abound!

This was too funny not to blog about. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Shiny and new

I began a new job today and don't think they're cool with me blogging about work (as last job was). I'll just say it went well. I just wish it were closer to home. Though I did not run into any traffic jams today, which is a big plus.

XTREME blog

A local TV station is referring to those carrying out storm coverage during this weekend's Nor'easter as the Extreme Team. And they even have a blog.

BPD News goodness

I'm addicted to BPD News. I think that the writing has gotten better since it began. But I don't totally understand this entry:

Angry Customer Arrested at the "KFC"” in Dorchester

Witnesses positively identified Dana Brown, 42, of Mattapan after he threw a rock breaking a double pane glass window at the "“KFC" located at 465 Washington Street. According to witnesses, the suspect was upset that the employees at the store refused to give him food for free. He will be arraigned in the Dorchester District Court on Monday.

What's with the quotation marks? Makes it seem like a faux-KFC....

And who doesn't love this title?:

Two Bottles, Two Victims, Two Head Injuries Two male in their 20's from Marshfield and Fall River found out they had something in common at local Boston hospitals Sunday morning. Both victims were transported to different Emergency Rooms after being hit in their heads with bottles. The incidents occurred on Lansdowne Street and on Canal Street. Police are investigating both incidents; no arrests were made in either assault.

VOLUME

I'm really tired. I got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I'd love to take a nap, but can't. Why? The downstairs neighbors not only play loud salsa music all day long, but now one of them is singing along. I've asked them to turn it down before, but it didn't go down that much. I don't want to start WWIII with the neighbors, but this is nuts. It's loud at all hours. I don't understand the need for everything in life to be loud.
Saturday night I came home and they were having a party. The music was so loud that the reverb was coming out of our speakers. I have no idea how this is going to play out, being at that every other resident of this building, besides me and Roommate, is either elderly or has small children.

BPD

Is it just me, or has the quality of writing on BPD News gone up since the blog's beginning? Especially considering the topics can be kind of dry.

This Old House

My dream job is to work for This Old House. I love the TV show and watch it whenever I can. Working for it would allow me to combine two loves- media and historic preservation. Today was exciting because on my way home I saw a van from Trethewey Bros. Plumbing- they are very involved with This Old House. I am a dork.

Rattle 'n hum

Downstairs had the volume at ungodly levels yesterday. Our dishes up here were rattling in the kitchen. I have no idea what it was he (they?) were doing down there. My guess is a video game, since no movie lasts for over four hours at such a high volume. And they (he?) have the bass turned all the way up. I don't get that. It doesn't make me think you're more of a man if your stereo- car or home- has thumping base. It's annoying and distorts the sound.

Roommate and I are debating how to bet address the situation without starting a war (I cannot speak for the people in the apartments below the new neighbors and how they are dealing).
